Why it matters: Walls only? Walls and ceiling? Walls, ceiling, and trim? Each is a materially different scope. Make sure all quotes include the same surfaces.

Comparing quotes
Make sure all quotes cover the same surfaces, coat count, and prep. A two-coat quote with primer and proper prep will cost more than a one-coat quote with minimal prep. It will also last three times longer. The per-room price is the last thing to compare, not the first.
